My best entry yet [Dec. 8th, 2005|12:00 pm]
[mood |o RLY?]

Bill O'Reilly is on a one-man crusade to save Christmas from all the Grinches of "atheist-secularism," who he claims don't want "Judeo-Christian" folks to enjoy the holiday.

"I am not going to let oppressive, totalitarian, anti-Christian forces in this country diminish and denigrate the holiday and the celebration. I am not going to let it happen. I'm gonna use all the power that I have on radio and television to bring horror into the world of people who are trying to do that."

The e-mail I just sent my Prof [Nov. 21st, 2005|02:28 pm]
Hello Professor-

The other week, when you were talking about the Peace Process, I got into a
discussion with you regarding Arafat, the PA and corruption. While you
acknowledged that there was obviously corruption, you did ask me if I "saw how
Arafat lived" and you also thought that much of what I was saying was hearsay.

I meant to send this to you a while ago, but did not have the time. You have
likely seen this before, but here are two links from Forbes that audited
Arafat, showing that his estimated worth was at least $300 million.

Perhaps he may have lived meagerly, but it would seem he certainly could have
afforded better!

Open the gates of itjihad [Nov. 6th, 2005|04:23 pm]
[music |DMB-Satellite]

I was reading an article by Irshad Manjii in Friday's National Post, and found the following part to be really funny:

She landed an on-camera interview with the political leader of Islamic Jihad, Dr. Mohammed al-Hindi.

Yet his interpretation of the Koran betrayed something else. "Where," I asked, "does it say that you can kill yourself for a higher cause? As far as I know, the Koran tells us that suicide is wrong."

Through his translator, the physician assured me that the verses endorsing suicide bombings could be found "everywhere" in the Koran. I challenged him to show me only one passage.

After several minutes of scouring the Koran, then calling for help on his mobile phone, then perusing companion booklets, he told me he was too busy and must go.

"Are you sure you're not pulling a fast one on me?" I probed. He smirked, clearly understanding my North American English. "I want to know that you're telling me the truth."

Al-Hindi summoned two assistants to the office and made another phone call. His translator shifted uncomfortably, hanging his head as my camera swung to the aides. With their backs to me, they flipped feverishly through the Koran. Minutes later, a verse glorifying war was presented.

What it had to do with suicide, I could not say.

mmm....that's good justice! [Oct. 3rd, 2005|05:36 pm]
I am very disappointed in you, my friends.

Dammit, not ONE of you has mentioned the fact that today is the historic 10-year anniversary of the O.J. Simpson verdict.

A day when not only could our faith in the American justice system be cemented, but so too our knowledge that an innocent man would be able to finally move on with his life.

In honour of such an incredibly significant moment in 20th century history, I would like to salute the following people/things:

"If it doesn't fit, you must acquit".

Great Works of Literature [Aug. 16th, 2005|01:12 am]
[music |MJ!]

Bold the ones you have read. )

Shouldn't 1984 be on this list? Not that it was such an intensely amazing book or anything, but the parallels between it and world history, and the fact that its referenced so often, you'd think it would be on the list. Anyway, I have alot of reading to catch up on.

Michael Jackson [Jun. 13th, 2005|07:31 pm]
As I predicted, Michael Jackson was found innocent today on all 10 counts. He wasn't even found guilty of the alcohol charge or of intent to commit a lewd act with a child.

Well, now that M.J. has been found innocent, CNN can certainly go back to covering more pressing world issues- or not.

He must be relieved.
